Bhaltos

The name Valtos is derived from the Norse vald hus, meaning house of one in power. It is a village on the Valtos peninsula. Originally the house were quite high on the hilly cliifs overlooking the bay, however it is thought that at the end of the 18th century, this changed as there was a bad storm which wrecked the village and as a result the houses were then situated closer to the boats especially as the fishing industry grew and the houses are now downhill looking towards the sheltered waters from the Island of Pabbay.
