Isle of Lewis & Isle of Harris - Bird Sightings - Gulls of The Western Isles
The common gull, is a dainty bird that doesn't really look like the rest of the gull family, the black headed gull is really a chocolate brown in colour, the great black backed gull is the largest of the gull family that we see here on the islands and the lesser black backed is a smaller version of the larger bird. The last of the main gulls that we see here are of course the herring gulls with their noisy aggressive behaviour.
