You approach Traigh Mangurstadh a mile after the village by turning off to your left to park - opposite there is a gate that leads to the machair and then a long winding path down to the beach

Mangersta (Traigh Mangurstadh- Photographs - Isle of Lewis Beaches

Mangersta beach gets the battering of the Atlantic swells. You can often see huge rollers, waves crashing onto the rocks. Mangersta is popular with the surfers. Mangersta is unlikely to be too crowded, even when the surf is up, however the surfing here means negotiating dangerous rips.
